Miranda and Lee

Love Story.

Miranda and Lee’s love story began thanks to a mutual friend who seemed to know their hearts before they did. Convinced they were the perfect match, this friend orchestrated chance encounters and casual meet-ups, planting the seeds of a connection that would grow over time. For four years, Miranda and Lee shared friendly moments and kind gestures, until one day, everything just clicked. What started as a nudge from fate became the realization that they were meant to be together.

Since that lightbulb moment, Miranda and Lee’s journey has been filled with adventures big and small. From road trips under the stars to quiet evenings at home, every moment together felt like a chapter in their story. Their love grew through laughter, shared dreams, and the joy of building a life together. It all led to an unforgettable moment during the solar eclipse when Lee got down on one knee as the world stood in awe. With the sky as their witness, Miranda said yes, and their forever love began.

“Joey has such an incredible personality-he’s warm, friendly, and brings such a magical energy to everything he does. During our engagement shoot, he made us feel completely at ease by chatting with us about our story and what we’re most excited about for our wedding. His friendly and genuine approach helped us relax and just be ourselves, which translated to the most natural candid moments in our photos. He really captured not just how we look, but how we feel about each other, and that’s a rare gift.

Joey is a true romantic at heart, and it shows in every photo he takes. He genuinely loves capturing love and all the beautiful, heartfelt moments that come with it. What truly amazed us was his dedication-he went above and beyond, even jumping into the water to get the perfect shot! His passion for his craft and his ability to bring out the emotion in every frame made the experience unforgettable. We’re so grateful to have found Joey and can’t wait to work with him on our wedding day. It’s such a joy to know him and his talent before he inevitably becomes everyone’s favorite photographer. We couldn’t recommend him more!”

Words can not describe my experience getting to capture Miranda and Lee’s engagement. This session was my first time being back in the city of Chicago since 2019 due to Covid, as well as moving to Bloomington IL, and I can still remember the overwhelming joy of being back into the city. Little did I know that the whole day was going to be filled with overwhelming joy. When meeting Miranda and Lee they were super welcoming, sweet, and excited for the few hours we would be spending together. With both of them living in the city, we walked to each location, and I got to know more about them and their love story.

As the session continued we made our way to North Avenue Beach, with the skyline as their backdrop and the sun slowly setting for the evening, Miranda and Lee shared every moment in tune with each other. One request that Miranda wanted was to jump into Lake Michigan, despite there being no ladders to get back up, we looked to the beach and Miranda and Lee charged the water. Being so caught in the moment and in tune with them I joined them with no worries of clothes getting wet or even my gear. Their engagement was one of the most romantic and spontaneous sessions I got to experience, which is exactly what I strive for every session I get to capture. I am super excited to capture and celebrate with such an amazing couple.

Jessica and Ben

Love Story.

Jessica and Ben went to high school together and were part of the same friend group, but they were always just friends. In the summer of 2019, everything changed. They started to spend one on one time together and realized they were falling in love. Ben asked Jessica out when she came home from college for thanksgiving break. They spent the next two years dating long distance until Jessica graduated college and moved back home.

Ben proposed on Jessica’s family farm in October 2022. They will be married this December in 2023.

“Joey did an incredible job with our shoot. He has a way of making everyone feel at ease and bring out the best aspects of the couple. Neither of us are fond of being in front of the camera, but Joey created such a relaxed, welcoming environment that we couldn’t help but have fun! I don’t think we’ve ever smiled or laughed so much in such a short time. You can see in the pictures how comfortable we felt around Joey and what an open environment he creates for his clients. We are so happy with the pictures and can’t wait to have him shoot our wedding!”

Engagement sessions are in my opinion one of the best ways to get to know the couple. These moments share the couple’s years of happiness through photos without having to say any words. Jessica and I along with many others were counselors for a church summer camp during high school which for me was one of the best moments of my life. Once I launched my business Jessica contacted me and booked me for their wedding in December. During the shoot both Jessica and Ben gave off such genuine happiness for each other which made it so easy to capture and to show through their photos. I am so happy to have taken these photos for Jessica and Ben and look forward to capturing their wedding day!

Brenna and Joseph

Love Story.

Brenna and Joseph met at Flagler College in St. Augustine, FL, where Brenna was a freshman from Bloomington IL, and Joseph was a junior from Kissimmee, FL. They were both theatre majors and they met while acting in a show together, then got to know each other more the next semester when Brenna was working on costumes for a show Joseph acted in. He accidentally asked her out through autocorrect and she said yes. When Joseph graduated, they spen two and a half years long distance, including not seeing each other for 6+ months during lockdown. After two years of FaceTime calls, going to sleep on the phone with each other to have the other’s company, and always planning the next visit, Brenna graduated and Joseph moved with her to Illinois.

Joey took our engagement photos near the site we got engaged at, and they turned out so beautiful and special. He really captured the emotion and all the candid moments of our shoot. He encouraged us to feel comfortable and relaxed by asking us questions like how we met, what we loved about each other, and what we were exited for, for the wedding. Sometimes he asked us to just talk to each other like the camera wasn’t there, which created the most beautiful candid photos. He asked what our style for editing was, and he delivered exatly what we asked for with bright, clear photos.

Behind The Camera.

To me engagement photos are one of the best kind of photos to take. This is time a perfect time to get to know the couple before all the pressures of the wedding set in. Getting to know my clients on a personal level is something I strive to do to allow the most comfortable environment to take photos. Brenna had contacted me asking to have their engagement photos taken. My girlfriend Hannah works with Brenna and had mentioned that I am wedding photographer. During the photoshoot, when posing and directing Brenna and Joseph, they effortlessly showed their love which was reflected in their photos.
